We promise you will be back in time for the event start at Le Vignoble at 4pm. Spaces are limited and offered on a first-come-first-served basis. To book your place and PPE, please email hello@first-thursdayclub.co.uk as soon as possible.

Who we are?

Vattenfall are working for fossil freedom. Vattenfall Heat UK has a vision to expand UK heat networks. We create partnerships with property developers, local authorities, and housing associations who share our fossil-free vision to deliver low-carbon heating to UK cities. In January 2023, Vattenfall Heat UK acquired Bristol Heat Networks Ltd and is working with Bristol City Leap, an award-winning city-scale decarbonisation project, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality for the city’s energy infrastructure by 2030. Vattenfall bring investment and proven experience in large-scale, resilient heat networks across Europe.

What we do?

Vattenfall will expand the existing heat network, develop new networks, and where possible, interconnect them to create a single Bristol heat network – serving the local community with reliable, low-carbon heat. Within 5 years, 120 GWh of low-carbon heat will be delivered to customers in Bristol through over £200 million of investment into high-quality, long-term infrastructure across the city.

Currently, heat networks in Redcliffe and Old Market are in operation, serving customers with 22 GWH of low carbon heat, with a potential generating capacity to serve the equivalent of 2,000 homes. Construction is underway in Bedminster and Temple, with detailed feasibility assessments also completed for Hengrove Park, Frome Gateway, Spike Island, St Nicholas, and Canon’s Marsh.

How are we making an impact?

Whilst bringing low carbon heat to Bristol, Vattenfall are investing into local communities to ensure lasting benefits to residents, businesses, and community groups. So far, the Bristol City Leap partnership has delivered £6.5 million of social value in the first year of operation. This includes a £1.5 million Community Energy Fund, 350 volunteer hours towards improving local communities, 102 new full-time employee jobs within Bristol postcodes, more than 50 weeks of work placements and work experience, and £3 million spend with local economy.
